Marathon Munching
Marathon Munching Part of My Five A Day
A balanced diet that’s what they say.
Reading a copy of Marathon Runners Weekly in the waiting room I noticed a short article about training for marathon running with a special feature about the importance of scoffing plenty of fruit and veg each day.
Marathon Bar
How soon they forget that back in 1981 when the very first London Marathon was held the choc bar Marathon retained its glorious name runners feasted on the chocolate, caramel peanuty (neither fruit nor veg) goodness as an essential part of their training for big races. What fool allowed the error of renaming this powerful brand associated name with “snickers” which, according to wiki, happened in 1990? WikiPeedia very kindly offers a link to the Bring Back Marathon campaign which I shall be hot footing over to following this post.
Balanced Diet
A balanced diet is great when it fits into my preferences, which is why I always have an apple pie with every cheeseburger.
Any of the following counts as 1 of your 5 for the given reason
- Bounty Bar – A coconut is a fruit
- Blueberry Muffins – Obvious
- Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewell – They have cherries on the top
- Wine – If orange juice counts then surely this should
- Vegetable Crisps – No brainer really
The list goes on.
Can I have a £40k a year job as local authority healthy eating advisor now?

Yeah a cheeseburger meal is incomplete without the apple pie.
Wow, I did not knew that Snickers was originally called marathon. Well, munching on a bar of chocolate is advisable to some athletes because the bar gives them a good sugar rush.
