Best of British Totty – Top Totty in Adverts for Land Rover
The announcement that top Posh Totty, Zara Phillips stars in an advert (hoped to become viral) for Land Rover’s support of the British Olympic Eventing Teams it almost went unnoticed that Land Rover generously donated 60 of their classic Defender all terrain vehicles to the British Red Cross as they celebrate their 60th anniversary this year.
The Red Cross will use half the Defenders around the world to distribute supplies and rescue teams to disaster zones where floods and earthquakes make transport difficult ideal for the off road capabilities of Land Rover.
The remaining Land Rovers will be remain in Britain. Some vehicles will be modified and be fitted with emergency vehicle equipment – medical supplies including donated heart defibrillators, blood pressure monitors, resuscitation equipment and first aid kits to become ambulance response models.
The vehicles were handed over during a garden party at Buckingham Palace where 7,500 Red Cross members were joined by members of the Royal Family.
It was noted that Royal British totty, Zara was missing from the ceremony which surprised the Land Rover representatives as she had not only featured in their viral video campaign but has a history of association with the brand – during the launch of Freelander 2 she joined top tennis totty and land rover driver, Maria Sharapova featuring in the 2002 campaign.

Maria said: “I drive a Land Rover at my home in the USA. Since I was 15 and first saw Land Rovers in the US I have admired their unique design and British-ness. I currently have Range Rovers, but am a big fan of the new Freelander 2.
Gorgeous Maria also stole the limelight from British totty when she attended Land Rover 60th Anniversay celebrations in California – photos here.

Land Rover is to be commended for their donation of 60 vehicles to the Red Cross. It’s hard to imagine a more appropriate or valuable advantage for such first responders. We’ve long admired Land Rover vehicles’ ability to negotiate wild terrain on safari in Africa, and we thank you for your post saluting their extraordinary generosity. It’s a fine example to us all.
I have most of land rovers in third world countries in use of big organizations and NGOs. I think everything to use in noble cause should be admired. Perhaps this type of charity or help can help organizations in a better way to save this world.
Although the land Rover freelander has a questionable reputation there are many land rover forums and freelander specialist sites to help sort out your troubles.
I’ve always thought the best charity was in the form of goods and services, like this donation of vehicles. Money is great to give, of course, but there’s so much corruption in the world that it often gets diverted from its intended target for relief. It’s far harder to do that with goods and services and they end up making a tangible difference immediately.
Those look a little too nice to be delivering supplies on the front lines, but if that’s how Land Rover wants publicity than go for it.
